The Ladies Room with a View (and a Whole Lot of Heart)
After a long, joyful weekend celebrating West Point’s graduation a swirl of pride, ceremony, and a hundred hugs it was time for something a little softer. A little more sparkly. A moment for just us.
So, on a breezy Sunday with the city feeling oddly quiet and the sun showing off like it was invited to our table, we made our way to Tiffany’s Blue Box Café in New York. It was still Abby’s birthday celebration . It was also, miraculously, the only day we could all squeeze in this much-needed pause between our buzzing lives and back-to-back calendar madness. And so, we went.
There’s something magical about dining at Tiffany’s yes, the silverware is dainty, the tea is warm, the pastries almost too pretty to eat, but it’s more than that. It’s the feeling of being inside a living jewelry box. Of being wrapped in a moment so soft and rare that you just want to hold your breath for a second longer to keep it.
We laughed, we clinked glasses, we celebrated to the woman of the hour Abby! She is bright, bold, and one of the fiercest, most beautiful women I know. Our friendship wasn’t planned, but somewhere between shared stories, overlapping heartaches, and a few battles with cancer—yes, both of us, we found something rare. A soul sisterhood forged not just in pain, but in power.
But you know what moment I’ll remember most from that glittering afternoon at Tiffany’s? The bathroom.
Yes, you heard that right.
Because if you know, you know. There’s a secret in that beautiful building. A ladies room with a view. Not just any view, but a front row seat to the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk building, a towering tribute to style, luxury, and imagination. And what do two friends do when faced with a chance like this?
We became architectural photographers, of course.
One of us (me) holding up the massive shade with one arm, the other balancing a phone in just the right angle to capture the magic of the moment. And not just the building, but her. I caught a beautiful moment of Abby looking out the window. Calm, radiant, strong. A snapshot of a woman who’s stared down life’s hardest moments lately and still chooses joy, beauty, and playfulness and laughter.
It was silly. It was perfect. And it was ours. Our moment two friends not giving a care in the world but capturing the moment we needed together.
That’s the thing about friendship, real friendship doesn’t have to be loud or curated or explained. It just is. It shows up in quiet Sundays. In the corner booths of city cafés. In tiny moments in the ladies room holding a window shade just so. In pictures that will make the feed but live forever in your heart. And nobody will know the story until now how I took a moment to capture it without her knowing !
Not everyone gets a circle like this. And that’s why we hold it tight.
Because Abby and I were brought together long before we knew why. And now we know. To walk this wild, beautiful road together. To heal, to grow, and to laugh through it all even in our Sunday best at Tiffany’s.
So here’s to more windows with breathtaking views. More reasons to celebrate. More photos where the light hits just right. More Sunday escapes and sisterhoods that defy the odds.
Because the real jewels in life?
They’re not found in glass cases.
They sit across the table.
They run to the ladies room with you.
And they remind you what living beautifully really means.
Until next time !
