Finding My True Colors – And Loving Every Shade

You know how you can stand in your closet full of clothes and still feel like you have nothing to wear? That’s been me. I’ve always loved fashion, but I realized recently that I wasn’t always wearing the colors that made me look and feel my best. And when you  hit 50 (fabulously, of course), you start craving a little more intention in how you present yourself to the world.

Enter Michelle from Darling by Design.

This week, I had the joy of spending 90 minutes in pure color heaven with her. We didn’t just look at pretty swatches, we explored how color changes everything. How it can make your skin glow, your eyes sparkle, and your mood lift instantly. And let me tell you, when Michelle draped certain shades over my shoulders, it was like watching a magic trick. My face lit up. My smile looked brighter. Even my posture changed.

Other colors… well, they told a different story. A little duller. A little more tired. And I realized, I’ve been playing it safe for years.

Michelle didn’t just hand me a “yes/no” list of shades. She explained the why, the undertones, the temperature, the depth,  and suddenly, shopping feels like a treasure hunt I can actually win. I left with a custom palette that feels like me, only better. I already know it’s going to save me time, money, and a lot of “what was I thinking?” moments in the fitting room.

What struck me most wasn’t just Michelle’s expertise, but her warmth. She made me feel seen, not just styled. This wasn’t about rules or restrictions,  it was about unlocking a version of myself that was already there, just waiting to shine a little brighter.

And now? I’m genuinely excited to walk into my closet each morning. I’m looking forward to makeup that complements my skin instead of competing with it. And I’m ready to be bold, because when you know your colors, you don’t fade into the background.

If you’ve ever wondered why some outfits make you feel unstoppable and others… meh… do yourself a favor: book a session with Michelle. She’s not just picking colors, she’s changing how you see yourself. And that, my friends, is priceless.
